Lenon: Welcome and Weekend in Vegas

If hip hop died, it now has been resurrected by this young man who has been working endlessly on these two great new C.D.'s.

It was hard enough trying to figure out which one I  liked listening to more. Welcome has a fuller variety of hip hop and use of whimsical lyrics where as Weekend in Vegas has a more hardcore feel that the younger generation of today would appreciate.

So I re-listened to Welcome and was instantly struck by the brilliance of "Growing Pains"(which is the first song on the album), it gives you insight into the artist background( greater than any writer could ever). Welcome seemed  to be the autobiography of this young lyricist  with songs such as: Goodnight and Good luck, The Night After and S.M.B.(which you will have to listen to, to understand).

Now Im itching with anticipation to hear what else this young cat has to say so I listen to Weekend in Vegas ready to be amazed!

The title "Weekend in Vegas" says it all. This C.D. seems to have more of a party/ swag/cool type of feel to it where the young M.C. delves more into his own personal greatness and better-than-you bravado that fits in well with hip hop artist of today.

My favorite song from this C.D. is Tats on my arm where he teams up with fellow lyricist Oreez and delivers a very stunning flow over a Tight(great) beat.

Sadly though I did have to pick a winner and if I would listen to just one C.D. on a cross country trip, it would probably be Welcome for its Variety. I by no means am saying Weekend in Vegas is a bad C.D. just the fact that Welcome is my favorite.

Peace ~P.String~
